Yet another ladder season has ended and it's time to review and improve the ladder rules once again.

Let's take a look at the old suggestions:

Lithium wrote:
SUGGESTIONS:

General rules, mappool and stuff

Re-arrange the text in the existing rules (fix grammar errors and clear them up)
Allow TB and DOM in the regular league
Re-arrange the mappool (hold a contest maybe?)
Hold a contest for a new ladder logo (Slayer)
Add gold, silver and bronze medals for the first three places (Laro)

Normal match rules

Award two points for a won ladder and one for a tie to both teams (Slayer and Aimane)
Allow or forbid playing short of one player
Challenger should pick the map first (Veg)

CW rules

Add a punishment for no-show (Slayer) OR award the opponent instead (Lithium)
Change the refusal rule (remove it completely/allow 5 or 7 refusals/make it apply for the first one or first three/add a cooldown (wKtK))
Formalize the coin flipping procedure (Gry)
Clans who have already played against each other do not need to do it again (Urbs)

Most of these suggestions have been implemented, however Grytolle says the new season will be without playoffs, so the rules have to be adjusted accordingly.

In my opinion the 200 point system should remain, with 2 points awarded for a won ladder and one awarded to each team for a tie. Clanwar rules could be adjusted a bit to suit a system without play-offs.

About other ideas: I still think TB and DOM should be allowed in the regular league, since the Multi league is too inactive and takes up space. Slayer's idea about a contest for the ladder logo is a good one. Also, a new mappool should be chosen. One of the ideas has been mentioned in the NT rules:

Quote:
The JJnet mappool for the next ladder season will probably be determined as follows:
Clans get to vote yes/no/idc on the “new” maps from this tournament, but what amounts to removal votes for FF or CotS will have to be motivated. They also get to nominate one new level and make two motivated removal suggestions.

Discuss.

We could do sth with opponent quality, like in JDC, however this quality should be calculated from the bunch of players you played against and not just the entire clan. So each individual player should have an individual quality then.

I have seen players complain about JDC not being more like the ladder. Other players (like you) suggest that the ladder system is reformed using JDC ideas. A nice solution would be in the middle, so I guess your idea could work, with a few changes emo

About the mappool vote: The idea suggested in the NT rules is good, although I think adding one more non-NT map or removing three jj.net mappool maps in total could work as well.

Just used an example here - not that the ideas suggested by players complaining were good (they were basically suggesting that entire JDC turns into a massive JDCE-like tournament, and that kinda ruins the purpose).

Suggestions so far:
-Mappool vote: Clans vote on NT maps, nominate one additional level and make two removal suggestions (Grytolle) or nominate two additional levels and get to remove three existing mappool ones (Lithium)
-TB and DOM in the regular league (Lithium)
-Logo contest (Slayer)
-Opponent quality (MS)

Does anyone have more ideas? What about the new/old system? It could use some improvements.

Jazz Jackrabbit 2 Arcade Team Game Ladder Tournament Safety Guideline Rules

1. Safety first. There is no cost or compensation for game participation. Each game participant agrees to practice honesty and fairness in friendly gameplay. Games can be spectated, broadcasted and recorded, so game participants keep in mind that this is a public game event. As determined by game ladder tournament game managers, any cheating, gambling, betting or unsportsmanlike conduct or behavior indefinitely disqualifies involved game team from this game.

2. Game players and game teams can join game ladder tournament only prior to beginning of game ladder tournament. Game players must be at least thirteen years of age to join game ladder tournament. Participating game teams join game ladder tournament with correct and complete game player information before any game ladder tournament play. A game player may at any time quit their game team but may not join a game team during game ladder tournament. During gameplay, game players wear a temporary game jersey. Temporary game jersey consists of game team game logo and game player game jersey game number. Game team game logo consists of between one and ten recognizable characters contained by brackets. Game player game jersey game number is any game number from 00 to 0 to 99. Neither colors, nor spaces, nor asterisks are permitted. Sequential order of game team game jersey number and game team game logo is interchangeable as decided by the game player. For example, a permissible temporary game jersey is: "[Team-Logo]00" or "00[Team-Logo]." And, for example, an impermissible temporary game jersey is: "|||||||||| <Team Logo> *Number*." Temporary game jerseys of teams and players can be changed only after game ladder tournament ends. Players are not required to use game ladder tournament temporary game jerseys outside of game ladder tournament play.

3. Game ladder tournament begins with each game team unranked at 0 overall game points. Game ladder tournament ends when one or more game teams reach 100 overall game points.

4. Game matches consist of two game rounds between participating teams of Jazz Jackrabbit 2 Team Battle, Capture The Flag or Team Last Rabbit Standing. Both game rounds must be the same game mode. Game players must use Jazz Jackrabbit 2 game versions 1.23+ or 1.24+ without modifications.

5. Game teams agree to field the same number of game match players prior to game match. Number of game match players must be at least 2 game match players per team and no more than 15 game players per team. Game match player substitutions are not permitted. Should a game match player disconnect from game server during the game match or game round, the game match is forfeited by the game team not fielding enough game match players.

6. Each game round lasts 5 minutes with maximum game score of 5. Both game rounds are game played in a game period of 30 minutes total, allowing for halftime of 20 minutes. Mid-game time-outs are not allowed. Both game teams agree on the game host server that will be used for the entire game match. Game server game host may not be a game team member of either game teams in play. Should a new game host server be necessitated, game match is discounted. Each of the two game teams will decide to play one game level for one round. Prior to the beginning of each game round, the game team that did not choose game level should pick a game team jersey color that will be used for the duration of that game round. When a game round ends, game players make note of resultant game scores for each team.

7. After a game match ends, game match results with scores of both game rounds are uploaded to game ladder tournament results page, verified by each participating field game player and displayed by game ladder tournament game match results board. Game scores for both game rounds are combined: higher game score earns a game match win and lower game score earns a game match loss; equal game scores earn game match ties.

8. Forfeited game matches count as a game match win for the other team. Discounted games, game match or game round, need not be uploaded.

9. A game match win adds 2 overall game points to game ladder tournament tally standings. A game match tie adds 1 overall game point to game ladder tournament tally standings. A game match loss adds 0 overall game points to game ladder tournament game standings.

10. The end result of game ladder tournament guarantees no real or imaginary game prize. At the end of game ladder tournament, all game teams are removed from game ladder tournament.

...right.

Well, the mappool vote is running. Let's see what's left:

TB and DOM in the regular league (Lithium)
-Logo contest (Slayer)
-Opponent quality (MS)
-Seasons and offseasons (Jett)

I suggest you to add in rules:

- Fireball gun must be set to off. If everyone agrees, it can be turned on.
Note: It's a gun instead of pepper, and it appears when /fireball is set to ON. NonPUed pepper makes 1 dmg, PUed pepper makes 1 dmg. NonPUed fireball makes 1dmg, but PUed makes 2dmg.

As far as I know, the fireball would also deal one damage when powered up if /strongpowerups was set to off. Correct me if I'm wrong on that.

Anyway, wouldn't it make the game better?

The fireball gun:
- ignores /strongpowerups and always does 1 and 2 damage
- is so much better than Pepper Spray that it should be always on

New gun is changing game experience. It should be optional to players. Like they allow or disallow spectators.

I don't give a damn so I'm gonna make a poll to decide the issue on a temporary basis for this season.

need to get rid of rule #1; too vague and open,
