Rate the song which posted previous person (not only 5/10 for example, say some thoughts about that)

I wonder how can someone listen to ur type of rock thunder(struck!).In my opinion,it`s horrible. I don`t think u need much talent to play the guitar that way. Listen to this guitar : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfAWReBmxEs . The part that supports my opinion is starting at 3:50 in the clip (in case u don`t have patience to listen to the wonderful beginning). This is the greatest guitar solo i`ve heard so far. The second is the one from Led Zeppelin-Since I`ve been loving you.

Ana: Iron Savior does not make rock, but power metal. Iron Savior's songs usually have a lot of emphasis on a 'steely' sound which fits well with the lyrics (!).

I do understand what you mean though... but I consider that song is too soft. That guitar is good, but that's offset by the boring (-and lack of) vocals. I don't like that the song has only eight (or whatever) sentences being sung and ten minutes of instrumentals.

Another one, different band, different lyric style, and different instrumentals.

Wow, been waiting for someone to post Stratovarius and here it comes. I'd consider Hunting High and Low actually better than Phoenix from 'Infinity'-album, but Phoenix is solid too, of course.

My turn: I'm curious to hear thoughts on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqF3HQXL79I

Stratovarius is just as bad as the iron savior "music". BORING LACK OF VOCALS?! Jesus,u don`t know what u are talking about. The voice of the singer does not even compare to the one of Robert Plant.
As for the lyrics,I don`t think that a song needs lyrics if the instrumental part is wonderful.Maybe the lyrics of that song are nice, but the guitar ruins it all. U can`t even hear the voice of the singer v well. Imo,the most important part of a song is the instrumental one, which shows the talent of a band. Sometimes u don`t even remember the lyrics of a song but the intrumental part can hardly be forgot if it`s outstanding.

"Iron Savior does not make rock, but power metal" .Power metal is a type or rock, one of the worst. The rock evolution is sad.No band will ever be as good as the oldies : The Beatles,Rolling Stones,Led Zeppelin and many others. Power metal...pff,when i listen to power metal the 1st feeling is to jump off a building.

@Ana:
Powermetal is much more powerful than rock - but that's the only difference aside from the lyrical themes. Also, it is a matter of taste. It is the difference of power you and me dislike...
Also, powermetal is classified as a type of heavy metal, despite classical pop being one of its ancestors - but so is trash metal.

What I also consider funny is that you've trouble hearing the vocals of Iron Savior - while those of Deep Purple's vocalist are actually more difficult to hear. That being said, I don't think Deep Purple is a bad band, though... but I dislike their vocals (same for the Beatles though). The Rolling Stones and Queen are good though.

I think it is just a (major) taste difference between us - instead of bickering about the bands' quality which is downright unjustified.

@ Vivando: Hunting High and Low is awesome too. emo

If I've heard that song, and that being said, I would recommend bands like In Extremo and Elvenking to you.

As far as I know the main genre is just 'Metal' which has it's many subgenres, Heavy- and PowerMetal being two of them(there is a difference.) In other hand I don't give much of a damn what other people like to call them though.

Speaking about ancestors, I would like to point out that bands like Accept, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Thin Lizzy are good examples of Metal's early influence, which were founded between 1965-1970, meanwhile for example Led Zeppelin, which was founded around the same time just drives on it's own road of rock, and has less to give to the metal itself. emo
If we'd want to go even farther in influences, then there would be Beatles, and Chuck Berry & friends!

Also for me the music comes always first, then vocals/lyrics. Then again, terribly bad vocals may ruin an otherwise good song. Right now to me it seems like Ana is blaming TW's choices of bands for lacking talent or instrumentality. I haven't heard really much of Iron Savior at all, so can't comment on that one, but at least standard Stratovarius is not something that someone could master in one evening and without having at least a bit of talent, and they for sure entertain the listener with a lot of instrumental songs/sections. Considering this I'd say it's the 'heaviness' that matters to Ana, while me/TW are used to it.

@TW: Didn't enjoy In Extremo much probably because it's reminding me too much of Finntroll. Elvenking seems to be a good suggestion though. emo

@Vivando: I actually found Finntroll and In Extremo quite different from eachother. Probably listen to Vollmond and, well, I think Liam (and yes, the Gealic version) shows the differences between Finntroll and In Extremo quite well.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_music .Look at subgenres. As i undersrtand from the article, metal is a subgenre of rock music which means I was right (ofc, when am I not right? emoemoemoemoemoemoemo ).

It's not new information to me Ana. emo

Thing is that rock is a very wide margin, and it would be impractical to use it when talking about bands of metal, which also covers a wide margin of music, much more than you may think. When someone says that he/she is going to a rock-concert it's not very clear what kind of music there exactly is. A lot of people would consider this to be the 'softer'-type of rock, but what if it actually was metal? When someone speaks about a metal-concert it's already pretty clear what is it going to be, and since people have different tastes under metal's subgenres too it would be appropriate to mention the subgenre as well. Thanks if you got "what i ment ehe]m."

But anyway since reading my posts seem to waste other people's lives, I'll end it here for now.
