New season, new maps? | [q] 2014-05-03 22:18

Hi guys, I'm making a forum post with the aim to educate people about some less-known maps hoping that maybe some of you will see them and try some out in 3v3s, as with suggestions for the new mappools. I was hoping people could take a minute of their time to check out these maps and see what they think, as well as add their own (serious) suggestions.

Another thing is I'm quite close to reworking TCS a little bit more and trying to make it a balanced level, but that's only if there's enough interest in me doing so, else I don't really see that much of a point emo...

Anyway, my list begins with:

Ancient Museum - am.j2l - http://www.jazz2online.com/downloads/7364/ancient-museum/
FireSworD has made a new CTF map with a very unique layout and different playstyle to a lot of other maps. In addition there is a high degree of control available to establish and a few smaall RF climbs as well as unique areas, definitely worth a look for 3v3s.

Downtown CTF - 2updowntown.j2l - http://www.jazz2online.com/downloads/7317/2up-veteran-vs-rookie/
Fairly cool level by BlurredD which could work for 2v2 quite cleanly, not sure about 3v3s. It's quite an interesting layout, whereby all three powerups need gun9 to acquire, so control in this level would be fairly interesting, but could get boring, but hey I'd like people to see the level anyway. The carrot area in this level has a "box" area which could play out quite interestingly. Balanced and symmetrical. emo

Minimal Duel - navctfx01.j2l (navctf01.j2l on CD) - http://www.jazz2online.com/downloads/6934/-/
Popular level by Snooze, could work in 2v2 and 3v3, plays v. differently to before with the fireball pu instead of peppermint.

Northscar Needle - naiiictf02.j2l - not on j2o
Great 3v3 level by Snooze, unique gameplay and generally fun to play.

Pinball Arena 2k5 - olcpinball2k5.j2l - http://www.jazz2online.com/downloads/3783/-/
Another old map by Blackraptor with a similar playstyle to SBv2 in the sense of how campy it may be and how limited the routes are, however I feel it would be a nice change of scenery and is definitely a lot less campy than SBv2. Has a full nrg and a +1c, as well as 4 PUs (3 different ones). Could be played in both 2v2 and 3v3 imo.

Security Breach v2 (v2) - 2upsbreach2.j2l - http://www.jazz2online.com/downloads/7317/-/
A small overview of the changes are mostly the fact that the level has the seeker powerup moved as well as some seeker ammo from the bases removed. This will on the whole make this a much less campy level, as its quite hard to actually maintain your seeker ammo. Another notable change is that the triggers have been changed so that you can not shoot through them. I quite like the changes and firmly believe that it makes this map a lot more playable.

Trigelateral v2 - eztrig2.j2l - http://www.jazz2online.com/downloads/7379/trigelateral-v2/
You guys probably know the original and I am shamelessly advertising the updated revised version. The previous version had a much campier blue base, but the revised version has a slightly more tricky blue base with a different element of gameplay. There have been minor ammo changes too as well as fixes to all of the buggy slopes previously present. One factor worth noting is that the level may still be biased but its definitely a lot more playable than before, you don't lose control entirely if you make a mistake as one team now. This cleaner version is a lot better in 3v3 than before, but also can work in 2v2.

Waterfall Caves v2 - 2upwcaves.j2l - http://www.jazz2online.com/downloads/7317/-/
This is an old map by BlurredD that's quite popular in JDC events and used to be played quite frequently in 3v3s, I highly suggest giving it a look as it has quite unique gameplay and a relatively fun layout. Perfectly sized for 3v3s, maybe bigger games too.

Ok some of us tested Ancient Museum and Downtown CTF and decided they're not as great as they look on first glance emo

Downtown CTF was good in duels İ played for JDC but never played in 2v2/3v3. Ancient museum was great during bash but probably too large for 3v3 in my opinion.

İ still recommend Pinball Arena for 3v3, and Trig is already popular in 2v2.

The updated versions of SBv3 and TCS if possible would be nice if not plain upgrades.

İ cant recall what Waterfall Caves is like, sounds nice to try.

For every old map deleted and new map added, the release date of a certain something will draw nearer!

I had a big post written but when I tried to submit, the site told me I was banned, so there goes nothing:

Golem Landscapes (olcgolem) - http://www.jazz2online.com/downloads/5699/golem-landscapes/
Great level, total classic, about time it gets some proper recognition around these parts.

Cold Storage (ab16ctf17) - http://www.jazz2online.com/downloads/7373/anniversary-bash-xvi-levels/
Brand new level. Interesting, tricky layout, not restrictive if you know your way around it. With some bug fixes this could be a big thing.

Myriadus (olcmyriadus2) - http://www.jazz2online.com/downloads/3458/myriadus/
Excellent in 2v2's, nuff said. Banshee and Mav can confirm. emo
