Below is a list of Questions & Answers about the upcoming tournament.
So what's in it for this time?
By participating in the tournament and performing well, you can actually have an impact on the clan ranking for the upcoming ladder season 16. This time, the clans of the top-4 ranked players will be rewarded with a fixed amount of ladder points for the next ladder season. Other participating clans will be rewarded with a small amount of ladder points for participation as well.
The ladder maximum points will be doubled to 200 for the next season. However, the amount of ladder points rewarded for ladder match wins will also increase from 2 to 3. The points rewarded to clans from the duel tournament come as follows:
1st place - 50 points 2nd place - 30 points 3rd place - 20 points 4th place - 10 points Other participating clans - 5 points (requires at least 1 non-forfeited match played by any participating player of the clan)
Doesn't that mean that one clan can gain a massive point boost by having only their players ranked as top-4?
Of course, to make it fair and balanced, the point rewards will not stack. This means that each clan can gain the point bonus only once, based on their highest ranked player. For example, if clan A has 2 of its players ranked as 1st and 2nd when the tournament finishes, the clan will gain only the 50 points as reward. Then, the 2nd place prize is handed to the clan of the player ranked 3rd, etc. In case multiple clans are tied for example for the 5th place, the tied clans will each receive the whole point bonus.
What if a player changes clan in the middle of the tournament? Which clan gets rewarded for his/her final position?
Only the clan which the player was in at the time of signing up will be rewarded.
Are clanless players allowed to participate?
Yes they are. They just won't be rewarding any clan and their ranking will be ignored when rewarding clans. They're still welcome to play for the honors though. If the player joins a clan later during the tournament, no clan will still be rewarded. However, to be able to award the players personally, each participating player should at least have a recognizable JJnet account to be eligible to participate.
What if the next ladder season finishes before duel tournament?
Naturally, many duel tournaments always struggle with players having problems with scheduling their matches. To ensure the tournament finishes in time for the point rewards to have full effect on the season, the tournament will feature strict deadlines and forfeits will most probably happen to keep it going smoothly.
How is the format going to be? CTF or battle? What about the mappool?
The tournament structure will depend on the amount of signed up players. The tournament requires at least 8 signed up players by minimum to start. The final stage of the tournament will be a double elimination most probably. If an uneven (considering the tournament tree) or otherwise large amount of players sign up, the tournament will start with a group stage (Round Robin).
The game mode will be CTF.
The mappool will likely consist of maps that are in the current 2v2+ mappool with a few exceptions.
The detailed rules and settings for the matches themselves will follow up later. If your question wasn't answered here yet, feel free to ask it in the comments section below.
Also note that the participation reward requires at least 1 non-forfeited match played by any participating player of the clan (signing up and forfeiting all matches will not be rewarded).
