I uploaded a few video's showcasing my work-in-progress Opensource rewrite of Jazz Jackrabbit 2.
The vids show a few levels being rendered at 1920x1080, while mantaining a high framerate.
This is not the final version, which will use a more optimized OpenGL renderer written by me. Also, things like animated tiles will be displayed correctly.
The project name is just that, A PROJECT NAME. No need to whine. kthxbai.
This is NOT the final version which will of course be more like JJ2 and less like a plain levelviewer.
------
Ok, news
I have decided to write the program in C++ instead of JAVA, for improved speed and stabillity.
Currently, I'm working on the network functionallity.
If you want the old, ugly JAVA source used in the video's up here, send me a PM here or nag me on skype.
It's not that commented, so use at your own risk. also, no (official) support for the old javacode. I've got a project to complete :p

The main difference between SDL and SFML is that SDL uses an outdated C interface to provide software rendering (CPU), while SFML uses a C++ class-based approach to wrap around OpenGL's hardware rendering (video card). As such, SFML is both easier to use and significantly faster than SDL. The drawback to SFML is indeed that SDL has more ports to various operating systems than SFML does, but really, who gives a shit about users of ancient versions of Mac OS.

Steve Jobs in heaven. But yes, I agree with GLaDOS. I'm not planning on crippeling the game only for some ancient OS support.
On another note, thanks to some great advice from NinjaCC, the netcode-client-demo is now functional. I can join servers with a visible character.
Next up is either the JJ2-compatible server code, or a level+tileset loader. I will check Physics in the summer holidays.
Also, I'm considering a plugin system in favor of letting everyone mess with the code (it will still be opensource, plugins only will be the preferred way, as they don't change the game so no exploits etc.).
I haven't thought that much about community modification yet, but A plugin sytem seems like a good thing to me, if set up properly.
The game will get an 'official version' to prevent people from haxing/exploiting/radaring around, and I or some jj.net team of mods who want the job can decide what makes it into each revision.
I'm planning to add 2 levels of customizabillity (horrible typo, I'm lazy):
___ Modify the source. You can do/change everything, but because of exploitabillity and chance of messing everything up these addons will only be added each new revision, and only when found appropriate by me/mods/whatever.
___ Plugins. You cant modify Everything, but still plenty of things. These can be used whenever you like, and don't need approval. Servers will ofc be able to whitelist/blacklist plugins for that server, so ladder servers can only allow requested plugins and block the rest.
Gimme your thoughts and feedback, all ideas are welcome. Even suggestions for a better name than Fukkatsu

Yeah. Mac OS 9 (And those earlyer) are 100% outdated. Also wish to edit the level like minecraft without restartions. Also there will ranks. (Like Admin, why you call admin without he is admin) and more options for rank. (ex. group with kill.you will can kill themselfs, not other player. for access to kill all players they need kill.other node.) If i had programing that project i had to add installer (You will need JJ2 installed to install jazz25) And it shows some options (ex. Make shortcut on the desktop). Also it gives you a code to activate a account on jazz25 website for more downloads. Also i will write for the server a extreme anti cheating. (So at team chat the server will not send the message on the another team). blah... That is enough.
Fucked the signature.
