Yes, apparently this is the case. I noticed when I have a freezer event thingy underwater, so that you have to swim to get frozen by it... when you shoot and get yourself unfrozen, your path into the freezer event shows up, as the sprint-trail thing that usually illuminates your path when running. So if you are frozen for a solid 30 seconds, it'll still appear right after you get unfrozen. This isn't so important, but still a random trivia.

I think it doesn't really track your path, rather it pauses the generation of your "speed-trail" which continues when you unfreeze.
I could be mistaken though, haven't played in a while :p
