Inspired by the public demand, the 6th edition of the legendary National Tournament safely returns!
The tournament structure will depend on how many teams sign up! One way is groups and knockout stage if there are enough teams, and another is league system with play offs.
The map pool will consist out of a good mix of old classics, less-played maps and newer maps.
Every team will have 1 captain, who will be in charge of the team. This person will also be responsible for scheduling the matches with other captains and officials and will be responsible for their team to show up at the scheduled matches. We will create a Skype group with all captains for announcements and scheduling information.
For a player to be eligible to participate in a country's team, he/she must be known to live in that country currently or have lived there for at least 4 months.
To make things fair, we are going to do the signups with 2 phases. In the first phase, only real countries are accepted as teams. However, a country may have multiple teams sign up. A team should have at least 4 players (one for backup). If there is any dispute about team names, the crew will help settling with them.
In the second phase (if there are still spots left), "fantasy teams" may also be accepted (mixed nationalities), but real country teams are still favoured. To determine whether a fantasy team is "legit" to enter the tournament is up to the crew to decide. The crew will try to stay fair and consistent in it's decisions.
When signing up please add:
-Your team's captain
-Your team's roster
If you cannot agree on one captain, the crew will select one for you and provide you with a motivation for the choice.
The tournament will start in early June.
Real country teams may now sign up until May 31st, 23:59 CEST (GMT +2).

Would be cool to see other teams, but no pressure!
Bit of a side-note but I thought it might be cool to implement voting with regards to mappool stuff. That way pretty much every country gets a say...!

Glad to see I haven't been forgotten yet . However, I cannot (and will not) guarantee my availability for a National Tournament. Given the amount of people from the Netherlands, that shouldn't be a problem really (unless the majority of these players are inactive, as mentioned above).
I consider myself as one of those (highly) inactive people, only occassionally dropping by here and there. I'll do my best to remain updated regarding the NT, and maybe I can join a game if time (and life) allow for it. If I can't attend, either as spectator or participant, or forget about the NT altogether, I'd like to wish everyone good luck and lots of fun in advance!
I will lead mankind into a new world.

I just spoke with Gucky and he said he wasn't asked for team GER and that he won't play in the NT. At this moment Germany will unfortunately not be allowed in the tournament, unless they get a 4th CONFIRMED player.

Team Germany wasn't accepted. After a lot of thinking it was decided to let him be part of Team Poland now. It's confusing but I'm sure that Anubis, as well as Team Poland and the rest of the NT crew, can clear that up.
But if he doesn't play a single match in the tournament, he can be part of Germany again in future tournaments.

I found I might be elligible to play for Team Poland this year because I have lived there "for at least 4 months" (one year in 2013). Since Poland at the time was also having difficulties assembling a proper team, Krzysiek asked me last week if I'm interested in playing for Team Poland. I accepted the offer in the last moment after Team Germany was unable to provide a confirmed 4th player on time.
I'm not sure what you mean by "But if he doesn't play a single match in the tournament, he can be part of Germany again in future tournaments." I know the rules aren't ready yet, but I hope this situation won't stop me from playing for Team Germany again in future tournaments. Team Germany is willing to come back better prepared next time

Im not sure what Jelly means by that either, we have never refused someone switching country because they had already played for another. Please forgive him, he's a newbie in the staff
I hope Germany will be able to participate again in the future, but that can only be the case if it's players show some interest in jj2 imo.
