Hello! Hi!
It’s time for yet another JJnet map making contest! It has been a while since we had one – over a year to be exact. With the multi-ladder seeing more traffic lately we’ve decided to announce this very competition.
This time we are looking to expand the DOM mappool by a new map (or a few maps) created by the community.
These are the rules regarding entries:
1. Maximum of two submissions per person but try to shoot for quality over quantity.
2. We are looking for new maps, remakes of currently existing maps will not be taken into consideration.
3. Use of angelscirpt is allowed with respect for FPS impact, the map has to be accessible by players with lower end machines as well as those using some better gear to play who could also encounter FPS drops.
4. The levels must be uploaded to Jazz2Online so that they are easily available to anyone to download.
5. Once submitted, levels are allowed to be edited until the contest closes. Any changes have to be announced and described to explain what changed.
An advice from me regarding the maps:
- smaller maps can and probably should have more than two control points as to allow for more counter-play with smaller teams
- the levels should be easily readable for the player so he can tell what is happening on the screen
- all characters should be playable in a level (Spaz too) this means that tricks such as wall-jumping should not be necessary to reach all important areas of those levels, such as powerups, carrots or control points
The contest ends on the 20th of January 2021 so you have roughly 5 weeks to submit your works. Just as with previous contests, a team of judges will be selected to pick the winner(winners?) and the map will be added to the DOM mappool afterwards.

creating a DOM map takes quite a lot of time, especially to make it visually appealing.
I didn't have time to create a DOM map in time, but I might whip something up later this year.

Update 21.01.21
First, I have to admit that the original deadline was too short. I could hardly find any time or energy within the last few weeks and I’m not at all surprised with the current outcome.
The contest has been extended, by default, one big extra month (new finish date: 21.02.2021) with a minimum number of 4 entries before the contest will come to an end.
Besides the glory and awe, I’m adding £20 as a reward for the first place.
Happy JCSing!

The DOM map making contest has ended with Violet CLM taking the first place with two outstanding submissions - Genshin Over It and King of Wuwang Hill
I would like to thank everyone who took part, as well as those who unfortunately did not meet the deadline, for showing intrest throughout the time.
Reality check.
In the initial timeframe, we received two entries, the winning ones, the only ones submitted. Those two are super high quality, with stunning visuals and creative gameplay.
At the first deadline I decided to extend the contest by a month since the times are tough and a good chunk of the initial time was overlapping with x-mas.
The extension was justified but the condition on minimum amount of submissions to end the contest was a bad, very unfair move to the person who has actually submitted in time.
I believe that the high quality of those entries might have discouraged other people from potentially entering the competition.
This contest had to end to make space for better, newer things.
Kind Regards,
Bee.

Violet's entries are now finally added to the DOM mappool...only almost 7 months late. Now I guess the next challenge might be to get people to actually play DOM.

Simply renaming the gamemode to ANYTHING other than "DOM" might suffice
"DOM" is the worst name for a gamemode ever, played by "Team Retard"
It can be called "Flagbug Plus" maybe after the 1.22 CTF playstyle,
when flagbug was gamebreaking.
For those who don't know, in 1.22 anytime a flagholder touched the unmasked edge of a level,
an erroneous "{Player} captured the flag" console announcement would flood the chat,
ruining the game.
1.23 fixed this "flagbug" CTF error w/ a D/L patch after the 1.22 CD β▓▒░▒▓>< release.
That is also how there got to be so many unofficial revisions of "Diamondious Warzone"...
since to play it sincerely there had to be masked tiles to wrap around all CTF level borders,
at least until 1.23
