National Tournament: 2020 Rules/Mappool

The rules

Where nothing specific is stated on this page, the JJnet clanwar rules apply.
The number of participating teams is 10, and thus these rules were written with a tournament of 10 teams in mind.
Finally, the entirety of this tournament will be considered to be score-based and NOT round-based.
Referees are MANDATORY for each NT match. Please contact someone from the CREW to request a referee. Broadcasters should be notified too.

The mappool

For the entirety of the tournament, the mappool will consist of the same 11 maps:
- Ancient Museum (am.j2l)
- Daybreak (ezdaybreak.j2l)
- Distopia (distopia.j2l)
- Diamondus Warzone (jjnetctfdw.j2l)
- Dusk (ezdos.j2l)
- Epitome (mlynepitome.j2l)
- Jungle's Edge (olcjunge.j2l)
- Nightwalker (xlmnight.j2l)
- Stronghold (xlmstronghold.j2l)
- Technodus Cargo Station (eztcs.j2l) - Clarification; use old version titled eztcs.j2l, and NOT eztcsr.j2l
- The Astrolabe (ezastro.j2l)

Each team is permitted to pick a map a total of TWICE during the entire tournament.

Additionally, each team is permitted to have TWO vetoes for the entire tournament. These vetoes can only be set prior to your first match. These vetoes cannot be changed.

Clarification; nothing prevents you from selecting your own veto.

Veto:

The Netherlands

Egypt A

Serbia A
Serbia B

flag Brexit
flag Romania

Czechoslovakia

Germany

flag_scand Nordics

Poland

The layout

The tournament has TWO stages; a group stage and a knockout stage.

GROUP STAGE:

The group stage will take place from Friday 27th March until Friday 1st May.
The 10 teams will be split into 2 groups of 5.
The top two teams of each group will pass to the knockout stage of the tournament.
The teams will be expected to play a match for their group by certain deadlines, but can play them sooner than the scheduled times if both teams agree.
Each team will be expected to play a match against each other team in their group (meaning a total of 4 matches each). These matches will be played in the same format as a LADDER MATCH:

Maxscore 10, Timelimit 10
Team A picks one map, Team B picks a colour
Team B picks one map, Team A picks a colour

Whichever team is listed first in the scheduling will be allowed to determine the map order, and similarly, that same team will be allowed to pick the colour order. This ‘hierarchy’ still applies even if playing your games ahead or behind schedule.

In the group-stage, draws are possible. If teams end up with the same amount of points after the group stage, this list will be followed:

1. Who has a better round difference? (rounds won - rounds lost)

2. If still tied: Who has a better score difference? (=scores-scores against)

3. If still tied: Which of the teams won when they faced off in the group stage?

4. If still tied: Which of the teams won the most rounds?

5. If still tied: Which of the teams made the most scores?

Click HERE to see the schedule and group-standings.

KNOCKOUT STAGE:

The knockout stage will take place from May 1st until May 15th.
The 4 teams that passed the group stage will enter the semi-finals.

Each team will be expected to play a match against their opposition (listed below), meaning a total of 2 matches each.
These matches will be played in the same format as a CLANWAR MATCH:

Maxscore 10, Timelimit 10
Both teams pick a map, both colours are played.

Clarification; tiebreakers now apply in the knockout stage, whereas they are not applicable in the group stage. As with standard JJnet rules, maps will be vetoed in turn until there is only one map left. Default vetoes as above do not count towards this, and tiebreaker rounds do not count towards maps selected. Whichever team is ranked higher, will have to veto SECOND.

- 9th place game will be played between 5th placed team in Groups A and B

- 7th place game will be played between 4th placed team in Groups A and B

- 5th place game will be played between 3th placed team in Groups A and B

- Semi-finals

A1 vs B2
B1 vs A2
The highest ranked team (1) gets to determine the map order/colour first on all levels (including the tiebreaker).

- Final / Bronze game

Winners will play in the finals, semi-final losers will play for 3rd place with the same rules.

General
To determine the tables in the league stage, match scores are in rounds, a win is 2 points, a tie 1 points and a loss 0 points.
Deadlines are set by a tournament official to set a time-frame for making important changes, in our case: picking a match date, and (in the play-offs) maps. They are binding in the sense that if you don't abide by them, you get into trouble, but not so binding that they can't be bent to accomodate the wishes of the playing teams. In other words, if you miss a deadline, you will be at the mercy of the opposing team. Similarily, in the case of a game's scheduling, the set time is binding, unless the teams agree to change it.
In case of a tie in the knockout-stage, the veto method will be applied to the entire tournament mappool. The map should be played twice to circumvent colour bias. However, if the teams agree - presumably because the selected map is fairly balanced - they can agree to only play one tiebreaker round. Either way, the last tiebreaker round will be played with /overtime on /otlimit 30, and the overtime limit will be reset until a team scores or forfeits (/otlimit reset).
Each level is played twice (2x 10 min), once on each colour.

If teams do not show for any reason and they have more than 1 forfeit in the group stage, tournament official have all rights to make their all played games as void so they wont affect the final ranking.

Rules clarification:

- Players that aren't registered for the tournament or don't belong to any of the competing nationalities are in principle not allowed to play. When problems occur and a new player could solve that, the tournament officials should be contacted. Only they can decide whether the player in question is allowed into the team or is allowed to play temporarily or disallowed completely.

-Every team MUST USE the country tag and each player MUST USE that specific tag during the game. Referees can rename a specific player to meet the requirements of this rule if necessary. Broadcasters MUST use [BC] tag BEFORE their nickname, and referees MUST use [REF] tag BEFORE their nickname. Tags and nicknames CANNOT be changed throughout the tournament
